   Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s a list of some of the common questions we hear. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Drop us a line.

Why should I join DuPage Doubles?

Raising multiples is a unique and sometimes overwhelming experience. Our supportive community helps minimize the stress and maximize the joy of having multiples. It is different from raising one child at a time, and it helps immensely to have support from other parents who understand what that means. Specific benefits of the club include a members-only online community, new member brunches, monthly meetups with various topics (some with a guest speaker), family events, MoMs Events, casual gatherings for dads, a monthly newsletter, and other parents who get what you’re going through.

How do I join?

To join the club, you must be a parent or expectant parent of twins, triplets, or higher order multiples. Membership is managed via our Wild Apricot website.  Click Here to Join!

How much does it cost to join? What do my dues go towards?

DuPage Doubles’ membership year runs from August 1st through July 31st of the following year. Annual dues are $35 per family. New members who join mid-year are eligible for mid-year, reduced membership dues.

The annual dues help cover DuPage Doubles operating costs (including philanthropic support) and ensure that the club can continue to offer all the great events and services to its members. DuPage Doubles also pays dues to be part of the Multiples of Illinois and the Multiples of America. These state and national organizations enable our club to have a non-profit status as well as provide insurance for our group events.

Where and when does the club meet? What type of events does the club have?

DuPage Doubles monthly meetups are held monthly at varying locations. Other club events are in city parks, community centers, businesses, or hosted at member’s homes throughout DuPage County.

Please see our events page for more information about the type of events we offer.

Can I join DuPage Doubles even if I don’t live in DuPage County? What area does DuPage Doubles serve?

DuPage Doubles welcome families from all over DuPage County and the surrounding area, however our events and meetings are primarily held in the Downers Grove, Naperville, or Wheaton areas.

Some of the areas where our members reside in Illinois include: Aurora, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lemont, Lisle, Lockport, Lombard, Naperville, Plainfield, Romeoville, Western Springs, Westmont, Wheaton, Winfield, and Woodridge.

What are the ages of children in member families, generally?

DuPage Doubles members often join while pregnant, and typically remain in the club until their children are through grade school and beyond. We have many high school and college-aged twins in the club – which is great when it comes to babysitting!

How long has DuPage Doubles been established?

DuPage Doubles was founded in 1979 by Patti Roberts. DuPage Doubles is also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with membership in the Multiples of Illinois and Multiples of America.

How many members does DuPage Doubles have?

We have over 150 families and growing every day!

What kind of topics do the monthly meetups cover?

Past meetup topics cover a wide-variety of subjects including school readiness, picky eaters, twins panels, meal planning, resale information, and more. We also have had guest speakers, such as nutritionist, pediatric dentists, child safety experts, policemen, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, pediatricians, behavior specialists, firemen, internet safety experts, and professional organizers at our general meetings. We strive to cover topics that appeal to all stages in our multiples parenting journey.

What kind of discussions happen in the online groups?

Online discussions relate most often to parenting issues like breastfeeding, sleep training, potty training, how to travel with two or more, where to find an au pair, how to hire a good nanny, should I separate my multiples in school, etc. They also include a healthy dose of humor, vents, and activity ideas.

Can I buy and sell clothes and baby gear through DuPage Doubles?

We hold two public resales each year: one in the fall and one in the spring. These events serve as a way for members to efficiently rid their homes of outgrown items, shop for what they need, make some extra money, and it is also the club’s largest fundraiser.

Additionally, our online group has a great classifieds section where members can sell their children’s outgrown clothing, gently-used gear or baby items, or post “wanted ads” looking for items to buy from members. Please note that the classifieds are closed for the month immediately prior and after the resale so as to not detract from the vital funds that the resales bring in to support club functions.
